Latest Event: Experiences from a crisis pregnancy centre

Hello Students for Life!

On Wednesday (11 May) at 13:00 – 14:00 in Leslie Social 1E we are hosting a talk titled “Unplanned Pregnancy? What are the choices? Experiences from a professional counselor.”

Two professional counselors from a pregnancy crisis clinic are coming to share some of their experiences with us and tell us more about what they do. This promises to be a very informative and interesting talk, I have met these ladies and they have some great information to share with us.

The talk will be about 30 minutes followed by a question & answer session before we all run off to our classes at 14:00.

If you are available to help distribute flyers and posters around campus on Tuesday and Wednesday then please contact me (matthew.bickell@gmail.com) or Noella (noella.d.moshi@gmail.com)

See you at the talk!

Project updates

It’s been a busy start to the year, and we are glad to announce some exciting projects that are underway:

Speakers:

We hosted Wolgang Hering, a pro-life speaker from Germany, as our first event of the year. It was a great success, the audience appreciated hearing about Wolgang’s experiences in the pro-life movement, and it was encouraging to feel connected to our brothers and sisters on the other side of the world.

We will be hosting 2 speakers on 11 May in meridian, they are Rachel and Bongi from the Jubilee Health Centre counseling clinic, and they will be speaking to us about their experiences as counselors and what the real choices are for pregnant women. Look out for the announcements on campus!

Mentorship Program:

We are in the process of setting up a Mentorship program for pregnant students on campus as well as young mothers and fathers. This program is aimed at helping these guys and girls through advice from other students who have found themselves in the same situation. The reason we think this project is so important is because many girls who become pregnant feel that they have no choice but abortion, and so we are trying to show them that they do not have to resort to abortion, and we plan to show them this by the example of other students who have been in the same situation. If you are pregnant or know someone who is, please contact us so that we can give you all the support that we can through this program. Conversely, if you were pregnant while being a student we need your help to mentor other girls, please contact us if you feel that you want to help those who have to struggle with the same obstacles that you did. This also applies to the young fathers since they also have an important role to play during the pregnancy and after the birth of the child.

Monthly posters:

As part of our campaign to raise awareness of the pro-life movement on campus we are putting up posters all around campus, at least once a month. So far we have received good reviews of these posters and so we have been encouraged that these are making a difference on campus.

Watch out for us on campus! And please keep your comments, suggestions and opinions coming!
